RAW Capital Partners has appointed a former Supervisor for the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) as its Head of Risk and Compliance.

Victoria Smallman recently relocated back to Guernsey from the UK to take up the role, having spent 13 years working at a FTSE listed global firm and the FCA, to lead RAW Capital Partners’ risk and compliance function.

Victoria was formerly Head of Growth, Risk and Compliance at Capita Plc, supporting Capita in conducting its business, and achieving growth in compliance with national/international financial services regulations, group policies, and procedures. She oversaw the full lifecycle of Capita’s global second line of defence on bids over £100m, complex contracts, acquisitions, disposals, and international business.

Prior to that Victoria was an FCA Supervisor supervising the most significant SIPP operator firms (pensions) and associated platform providers, circa £41bn AUA in the UK, with the aim of protecting consumers and the integrity of the financial services sector. Victoria won the FCA Infinity Award for her work as an FCA Change Ambassador.

“I am absolutely delighted to join RAW Capital Partners and move to Guernsey with my family. RAW is an excellent business in a specialist area of the fund sector that is experiencing phenomenal growth,” said Victoria.

RAW Capital Partners doubled in size in 2023, now employing over 40 members of staff in Guernsey, Southampton, and London. Victoria joins the business as it looks to grow the RAW Mortgage Fund from £180 million to more than £1 billion in the coming years.

Ben Nichols, Interim Managing Director of RAW Capital Partners, said: “We’re delighted that Victoria has joined the team at RAW Capital Partners and she has already made an immediate positive impact within the business. I'm confident that we will continue to benefit from her extensive expertise and experience as we continue to grow.”
